"A leader must have the courage to act against an expert's advice." -James Callaghan
There will come a time that you will have to put your foot down and say, "NO!"
It may be the unpopular thing to do but if you truly believe in your heart and know in your mind that the answer is "NO!" then go for it!
Try This Out: Put yourself in the position of a Army Field Officer during World War II. An order comes down from Headquarters telling you that you and your men will charge into that small village at the bottom of the hill and take that town from the very small enemy force. HQ continues reporting that aerial reconnaissance shows a small traffic control force in the town. Reluctantly, you say that the force you have cannot do the job but HQ is insistent. HQ demands to know what has gotten in to you and why do you think 30 men cannot overtake a group of five traffic control soldiers? You tell HQ that in the past 24 hours your Forward Observers have seen all types of equipment and soldiers enter that town as if they are preparing to assault your position. HQ does not believe you as they believe the "verified" Intel that is now over three days old when when the weather was last good enough for aerial recon. You know that if you agree to embark on this mission your men and quite possibly you will be walking into their own slaughter. A completely unnecessary and senseless slaughter.
Your back is up against the wall, what do you do?
Do NOT back down!
No matter what those "verified" experts say you know better because you know your men have no reason to lie to you and report false information. You trust them! You trust yourself! Believe in Yourself and acting against an expert's advice will be easy to commit to.
