Walking Leader Podcast 140 - Learning Those Soft Skills - Accepting Feedback

Welcome to Episode 140 of the Walking Leader Podcast.
In this episode, David talks about the Soft Skill of Accepting Feedback.

While most people are not well-versed at giving proper feedback, all leaders must master how to properly accept feedback (good or bad) and turn that into something positive and productive. After all, that is what feedback is all about: giving something to create positive personal and professional growth. Once you master accepting feedback and using it to grow as an individual, you then share it with those you lead and are responsible for at work and at home. Show them accepting all feedback, no matter how it is given, is good feedback.

Walking Leader Podcast 139 - Learning Those Soft Skills - Time Management

Welcome to Episode 139 of the Walking Leader Podcast.
In this episode, your host, David Guerra, talks about TIME MANAGEMENT as a soft skill and talks about why it is one of the most important soft skill to have and use.

Time Management is not just about having things to do but also when to to do them. While most people feel that time management is a work place soft skill, it is very much an all around life skill. Taking the time to manage your work and personal life both separate and apart is what leads to becoming a better individual, better mentor, and better leader. Remember, those you lead and manage and care for all do one thing; they look up to you. Thus what you do to make your life better leads to improving their lives. What leader does not want that for their followers?

Walking Leader Podcast 138 - Learning Those Soft Skills - Work Ethic

Welcome to Episode 138 of the Walking Leader Podcast.
In this episode, I continue with Learning Those Soft Skills series as I talk about Work Ethic.

Work Ethic is something that you are either born with or taught at a very early age. It is imprinted in our very own DNA. One of my very earliest memories of my Grandfather was of him up on the roof of the house he built repairing the roof. I remember looking up from the ground at the man I called Abuelo, hammering away as he put down new roof shingles on top of the work he was doing. He taught me from early on that if you know it has to get done then do it. Get work. Several years later, I would find myself up on that same roof "helping" him with something that needed attention. He is no longer with us.

Now, that same work ethic pulses through my veins, it's in my DNA and I try to pass that same work ethic to my kids, my friends, my family, and my colleagues. Sometimes successful and sometimes not but it is not for lack of trying.

Work Ethic is defined as the principle that hard work is intrinsically virtuous. It is not taught in school, work ethic is something that can ONLY be shown by doing. So, get to doing!

Walking Leader Podcast 136 - Learning Those Soft Skills - Conflict Resolution

Welcome to Episode 136 of the Walking Leader Podcast.
In this episode, I talk about Learning Those Soft Skills - Conflict Resolution.

In this episode, your host, David Guerra, talks about the soft skill known as CONFLICT RESOLUTION and explains why it is an important soft skill to have and use.

Conflict Resolution is a soft skill that is not easily learned and mastered. Conflict Resolution involves a great deal of knowledge, wisdom, critical thinking, and most certainly looking at the "big picture" and determining what will create WIN-WIN situations for all parties involved. The issue here with Conflict Resolution  is that you will only get better over time and commitment involved to getting better at resolving issues or conflicts. There is no easy fix when it comes to Conflict Resolution but there is an opportunity to minimize workplace annoyances and create a efficient workplace by helping to remove the conflicts that exist.

Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

And as always, I remind you to GO BEYOND THE GRIND & GO BEYOND THE HUSTLE BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE THE WALKING LEADER AND A LEADER THAT IS GREAT TO FOLLOW.

I invite you to take about 12 minutes and listen to the Episode 136 of the Walking Leader Podcast. Enjoy!
