Welcome to Episode 200 of the Walking Leader Podcast. with your host David G. Guerra.

In this 200th episode, “Look Back To Look Forward”, David shares with you a reflection of the past 200 episodes and how looking back at who we are and what we believe will guide us into the future. Also, how failing to look back everyone once in a while will cause history to repeat itself. Usually, it is the bad history that will repeat itself. it is the leader's duty and responsibility to continuously improve and in doing so it also means looking back to see where the leader (and the team) have been and where they are going. The future awaits.

Be Idealistic and Pragmatic At The Same Time - The Walking Leader

Welcome to Episode 199 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about Being Idealistic and Pragmatic At The Same Time.

In This Week’s episode, “Be Idealistic and Pragmatic At The Same Time” David talks about why it is important to be idealistic and pragmatic at the same time. Yes, LEADERS are expected to do many things at once so why not also be idealistic and pragmatic? Understanding that while being idealistic means trying to achieve some form of perfection, however, the sooner you understand and accept that perfection is subjective. Thus, “true” perfection will never be reached. That is why being idealistic is good so long as you are ground in being pragmatic, as well. Being pragmatic means you can deliver the very best each and every time.

Do Not Be Afraid Of Change - The Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 195 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
This episode's topic: Do Not Be Afraid Of Change

these most difficult and constantly evolving times change is the only true constant. As a leader, change is what made you a leader and it will be what keeps you as a leader. Therefore, because like most change we cannot control or anticipate when it arrives but when it is here, leaders must not fear CHANGE. While not fearing is change is not part of any formal leadership training it is something that has to be experienced. While professional development may cover the uncertainty but it does not fully engulf or even attempt to explain the uniqueness of change and that it brings. Leaders, have a responsibility to their followers, their own leadership, and peers to be prepared to face change head on and not by sticking their head in the sand. Oh, no Leaders do not have the luxury of being afraid of change. Fear (of Change) is NOT in the vocabulary of True and Authentic Leaders.

Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

Become Hyper Aware of Emotions, Thoughts, and Actions - Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 192 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about Become Hyper Aware of Emotions, Thoughts, and Actions.

The ability to be Hyper Aware of your Emotions, thoughts, and actions is not an ability that people are born with. Well, okay some people are born with it. However, whether born with it or grown over time, the ability to use that hyper-awareness is not easy to master but it has to be mastered. As a leader with the ability to be hyper-aware you are in a unique place that others work long and hard to reach. You are in a place where you can see 360 degrees (head on a swivel), look over the horizon and you use that ability to make better decisions whose positive results and outcomes will be received by your team. Being hyper-aware is not about being overly sensitive but looking at things from a different perspective, then reaching unique conclusions and then effectively acting on them.

Don't Just Think Outside The Box Throw Away The Box - Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 190 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode: Don't Just Think Outside the Box Throw Away The Box.

When it comes to thinking outside the box, don't work your way into a slightly bigger box. As a leader, you owe it to your followers, peers, colleagues, leaders, and everyone around you to throw away the notion of being in a box because thinking that way will never get you out of the boxed in mindset. Change your mindset and throw away all the boxes to put yourself in a world of limitless possibilities. By leadership training either through professional development (a.k.a. leadership development) or employee training it behooves you to work diligently to remove that antiquated mindset to deliver on business leadership.

Welcome to Episode 186 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode: Learn To Say No

In this episode, I want to talk about you learning to start to say NO. To be the one that gives the NOs. Especially, if you have been giving out the YES like they were boxes of Cracker Jack. That was me not so long ago. I needed that acceptance until I realized, for me, it was all give and no take. I know if it has happened to me, it has happened to you, hell it is probably happening to you right now. They will take what you give them so long as it is a YES. Change! Time for changing yourself, your mindset, your circle of "friends" and if you have to, change the relationship with family members. The time has come for you to find your inner voice bring it out and say NO!

In this episode: Take Calculated Risks

Taking calculated risks is not just for leaders, but everyone does it and they do it all the time. For whatever reason, excuse or situation it has to be done. Those that know to step back to analyze the situation for any potential risk usually get what they expect. Sadly, there are many that refuse to weigh all the options and get exactly what they deserve. In this episode, I talk about when you should take a calculated risk, risk versus reward, and when is taking a calculated risk worth it.

Don't Take NO Personally - The Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 184 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode: Don't Take NO Personally

Don't take NO Personally. Of course, that is easier said than done but let me in on a little secret. It gets easier with age. As you get older, experienced and wiser you start to realize that the NO other people give you DO NOT MATTER. In the grand scheme of things it is all actually pigeon feed. Whether they gave you that no out of spite, bad intentions, revenge, or whatever the reason they are actually doing you a favor by telling you up front. The NO means they are not saying YES then failing to deliver (take that personally). However, whether it is that time, schedules, calendars or prior commitments do not align well why take that personally? In this episode, I share with you several times that I took a NO personally and how now I have learned to let it go. You can do it as well (given time).

Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

And as always, I remind you to GO BEYOND THE GRIND & GO BEYOND THE HUSTLE BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE THE WALKING LEADER AND A LEADER THAT IS GREAT TO FOLLOW.

Combining all three will eventually come to everyone but those that act on it are also few and far between. Why? Because when it comes to being your own unique self most people find it difficult to be true to themselves. When you Walk Your Talk, you become something you will NEVER be when you are doing the easy, popular, cool thing, you become Authentic and Genuine. Take a listen to this 10 minute episode for more on why it is important and necessary to Walk Your Talk.

Patience Is A Virtue - Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 179 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, Patience Is A Virtue.

The old adage of Patience is A Virtue is a skill that all leaders must master and that is non-negotiable. Patience is the tool that as a leader you must not only live but ensure that others emulate. While it may be difficult for some to master it will come easy to others. Even then it may not be easy to master. With achieving and mastering patience there has to come some change. That change may come at a price. Good or bad, that price may not be worth paying for some and for others it is a necessary toll. Nonetheless, change and gaining patience is part of the process of growth and maturity. Understanding that Patience is not always what the popular preconceived notion deems it to be. Take a listen to this 17 minute episode to find out exactly what I am talking about

Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

Walking Leader Podcast - Do Not Be Hasty To Solve Problems with your host, David Guerra

Welcome to Episode 171 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, Do Not Be Hasty To Solve Problems.

In these trying times Leaders are needed. Leaders are expected to step in and step up. In the age of COVID-19, real leadership is needed right now. Leadership, the kind that you have wanted to follow is what you need to be delivering. Now is not the time for wallflowers to stay in the background. Now the time is needy for those leaders that are willing to put "steel on target" when it comes to addressing problems. The days of quickly and hastily solving problems are long gone. Now, leaders are called on to act quickly then take the time time to Observe, Orient, Decide and Act, only after READY, FIRE, AIM!

Because situations are evolving quickly, leaders can no longer afford the luxury of attempting to solve problems on their own. They now have to do what it takes to put a spotlight or two or a dozen on the problem and draw an almost 360 degree approach to solving the problem. The solution of which entails putting "steel center mass of the target."

Walking Leader Podcast: The Team Wins & Loses Together with your host David Guerra

Welcome to Episode 170 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about The Team Wins & Loses Together.

Whether you are the team leader or a team member, together the team either succeeds or fails. The unit works together to accomplish a common goal. That goal is the culmination of the mission, vision and intent of the leadership, the management and the stakeholders that brought that team together.

By ensuring that all members of the team use commitment, dedication, and guidance through the inspiration and motivation of the leader the team will succeed. The success or failure belongs to the team. The responsibility or accepting the blame is different. That solely belongs to the leader in that their intentions were not fully understood. When the leader's inten is not understood then failure is sure to follow.

Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

Failure Is Not Always A Loss, It Is Part Of Change with your host, David G. Guerra, MBA

Welcome to Episode 169 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about how Failure is not always a loss, it is part of change.

When it comes to failure it is not always a loss. A failure at the least is a setback that you can work through to take another try.  Another swing. At most, failure is a lesson that will never be forgotten. Failure is part of change. We've all heard the story of Thomas Edison's Ten Thousand attempts to get it right. Well, you need your approximately 10,000 attempts before you get it right. Then try something new and you will have to start all over again, this time only wiser and smarter. So get to failing so you can get to winning.

Never Play Favorites When It Comes To Leadership with your host, David G. Guerrra, MBA

Welcome to Episode 168 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about how As The Walking Leader, Never Play Favorites When It Comes To Leadership. .

Leaders will make friends and enemies while he or she is climbing their way up the organization. Remember, we cannot be all things to all people so yes, there will friends and not-friends as we make out way. The issue at hand is that you as a Leader can NEVER be so petty that you will play favorites because of who your friends are and who are not your friends. Yes, in 2020 it happens. Sadly, it happens. These Middle School games are played by grown adults because no one told to them STOP playing games children play and start behaving like adults. In the 21st Century childish games are easily discovered and once that “leader” is discovered then his/her credibility goes out the window, never to return. If you are playing those games you are hereby notified to discontinue that practice. Your future as a leader depends on it. If you never played these games then pat yourself on your back and keep up the good work!

Caring Is At The Heart of Leadership with your host David G. Guerra, MBA

Welcome to Episode 167 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about how Caring is at the heart of Leadership.

Having passion means you care and you cannot care if you do not have passion. As a leader, passion and caring are part of the deal. Knowing when to employ sympathy is tricky as it can become a very slippery slope if left unchecked or handed out with constraint. Yet, when it comes to empathy, a great leader knows be empathetic and being cognizant of what others are going through or experiencing is key to remaining a leader that is great to follow and an inspiration for future leaders.

Leaders Are Team Players with your host David G. Guerra, MBA

Welcome to Episode 165 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about Leaders Are Team Players with your host David G. Guerra, MBA.

When it comes Leaders, they are all team players. Leaders are members of the team. Leaders are nothing without a team but a team can exist without a leader. That train of thought may go against what many have been taught. However, in the 21st Century, the autonomy of the tight, solid, cohesive team can still deliver on the mission, the vision and the goals that have been set from the onset of the birth of the team. The leader has to be a team player first then the team leader.

As a leader, in any thing you do or are a part of you must know that leadership is a relationship. Just like any relationship (friends, family, spouse) a leader must maintain a fair and equitable relationship with all members her team. A true leader recognizes that all members of the team need each other to succeed and the need goes in all directions not just up and down. Looking Forward Is A Leadership Prerequisite

Welcome to Episode 163 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about Looking Forward Is A Leadership Prerequisite.

As a leader, you must be looking over the horizon to see what is coming. A visionary is a better term. Leaders must be prepared to deal with whatever comes your way. Using your knowledge and wisdom is what prepares you to deal with what happens. To be a great leader you must have the ability to look forward. Begin with the end in mind and guide your followers through the "undiscovered country", the uncharted waters. Your Personal Values Drive Your Commitments

Welcome to Episode 161 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about Your Personal Values Drive Your Commitments.

They say your word should be stronger than oak, deliver on your commitments and most of all, keep your word. All that is fine and dandy but what about your values? Your values drive your commitments, your values and value system is what drives what you do, why you do it, and to what extent you do what you do. What does this mean? By having a deep and honest reflection of you values, beliefs, and priorities you can see where you stand when it comes to honoring your commitments. It also means you have to work at identifying what you can and cannot change. Changes or modifications to your systems of values and beliefs will help move you to the next level of being a better leader and a much better human being.

And as always, I remind you to GO BEYOND THE GRIND & GO BEYOND THE HUSTLE BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE THE WALKING LEADER AND A LEADER THAT IS GREAT TO FOLLOW.
