Listen To Others - The Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 196 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
This week's topic: LISTEN TO OTHERS.

David talk about while we are taught to ignore what other people, there are those times where we should listen. Listen to the feedback, the positive and yes, even the negative. By listening to the good and bad from the good and the bad, as a leader you use what they are telling you to not only learn about them but you also use that to grow as an individual and a leader. Encourage those you lead to also solicit feedback which will put them on the fast track to growth.
Don't forget to CREATE WIN-WIN situations in all that you do. Start Strong! Stay Strong! Finish Strong! Be Strong!

And as always, I remind you to GO BEYOND THE GRIND & GO BEYOND THE HUSTLE BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO BE THE WALKING LEADER AND A LEADER THAT IS GREAT TO FOLLOW.

I invite you to take about 15 minutes and listen to the Episode 196 of the Walking Leader Podcast. Enjoy!

Do Not Be Afraid Of Change - The Walking Leader Podcast

Welcome to Episode 195 of the Walking Leader Podcast.with your host David G. Guerra.
This episode's topic: Do Not Be Afraid Of Change

these most difficult and constantly evolving times change is the only true constant. As a leader, change is what made you a leader and it will be what keeps you as a leader. Therefore, because like most change we cannot control or anticipate when it arrives but when it is here, leaders must not fear CHANGE. While not fearing is change is not part of any formal leadership training it is something that has to be experienced. While professional development may cover the uncertainty but it does not fully engulf or even attempt to explain the uniqueness of change and that it brings. Leaders, have a responsibility to their followers, their own leadership, and peers to be prepared to face change head on and not by sticking their head in the sand. Oh, no Leaders do not have the luxury of being afraid of change. Fear (of Change) is NOT in the vocabulary of True and Authentic Leaders.

I invite you to take about 15 minutes and listen to the Episode 195 of the Walking Leader Podcast. Enjoy!

About Having Fun! (Rule #20)

Greetings,

A brief note about Rule #20 of "The Walking Leader": Have Fun!

That is it. That is rule #20. Two words that carry a big punch.

Have Fun!

Having fun is all about making certain that no matter what you do you do not take yourself too seriously. Do not feel like becoming a Walking Leader is a chore. It should never feel that way.

Like I wrote in the book, if you start to feel that this is no longer fun then it is time to start and revisit what you true intentions are, plan a new course of action, and then act! It should always be fun. It has to be. Your direct staff knows you better than anyone else in the organization does and they are the ones that promote you or demote you to the rest of the company. I am referring to your reputation. It does precede you. If you are "grump" to your staff then rest of the organization will know about it. If you are "fun" professional then everyone will know that, as well.

When you get out from behind your desk and start walking around the company floor, slap that smile on your face. No matter how long you think you are faking the smile it will eventually stick. That is right keep a smile on long enough it becomes the real deal. An Authentic Smile!

When you smile people will start to believe that you are having fun. Having fun is what it is all about. Having Fun is quite contagious. Keep it up and soon everyone is infected. However, remembering all the time to keep it professional.

Do not fake it! Simply HAVE FUN!

Walking Leader Bonus #4: Bring Value To Others

No matter what position you hold in your organization and no matter who you are dealing with there is only ONE thing that matters most: Are you bringing value to others?

When you interact with others are you doing everything you can to ensure that their time with you was more than just a passing moment in time between two people? If you are not too sure what I am talking about, that's OK.

Think about the following: In your next interaction, try to give them an experience like they have never had before. So that when they leave they can take with them something that can never be taken away. An experience that will leave them wanting more.

Try it...

Until Next Time,
David

WL Bonus #1: About Change

"People underestimate their capacity for change. There is never a right time to do a difficult thing. A leader's job is to help people have vision of their potential." -John Porter

There will always be a resistance to change. Why would any sane person want to change when everything is going smoothly? Why would the captain of a ship turn his vessel into a storm full of rough seas? Sometimes the closest safe harbor is just beyond the storm ravaged seas. It is going to be rough but on the other side is a place to rest and recover. A true Captain would not turn his ship into the storm unless he knew his crew and vessel could withstand all that was heading their way.

That is the sign of a true leader, when he knows what his people can and cannot do. Then the leader's job is easy because he has helped make the vision of their potential into a reality. It is a reality that will help make the transition during the time of change go so smoothly that they might not have the chance to become resistant to that change.
