SELF-LEADERSHIP & SOFT SKILLS - INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Episode 230 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.

In this episode, David introduces his new podcast initiative for 2022. While still focusing on the individual's self-development when it comes to personal or self-leadership, David takes a deeper dive into the highly coveted and sought after soft skills.

As a current and future leader, you have no choice but to acquire, learn, and work with a wide variety of soft skills. The wide variety refers to the "cluster of productive personality traits that characterize one's relationships in a social environment. These skills can include social graces, communication abilities, language skills, personal habits, cognitive or emotional empathy, time management, teamwork and leadership traits. A definition based on review literature explains soft skills as an umbrella term for skills under three key functional elements: people skills, social skills, and personal career attributes."

This year we are going to tackle one soft skill at a time, one episode at a time. New for 2022, we are going to school with the Walking Leader podcast in that it will not only be voice/audio based but incorporating other content (audio, video, downloadables, etc.) on my website.

So, buckle up because it is going to be a great ride.

SELF-LEADERSHIP & SELF-EVALUATION by David Guerra - Walking Leader Podcast #229

Welcome to Episode 229 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.
In this episode, I talk about SELF-LEADERSHIP and SELF-EVALUATION.

Happy New Year! Did you make a resolution? Did you set a new goal or want to accomplish a new mission? Or did you take time to self-evaluate?

As a current or future leader, taking and making time to self-evaluate is an essential function of a leader that not only cares about the people that follow that leader but the future leaders that leader will help create.

By taking the time to evaluate where that individual has been and where they are going will help make any changes that need to be made that much easier to happen. Staying on course comes easy when individuals are keeping an eye on the compass, the horizon and what’s behind them. It is when people put focus too much on one or the other that the journey goes off-course.

Through intentional self-evaluation the current or future leader will find themselves always adjusting course and ultimately achieving their goals or realizing their vision or accomplishing their mission.

SELF-LEADERSHIP & INFLUENCE - The Walking Leader Podcast #228

Welcome to Episode 228 of the Walking Leader Podcast with your host David G. Guerra.

In this episode, I talk about Self-Leadership and Influence.

As being a Self-Leader is all encompassing, influencing yourself must happen long before you can start to influence others.

The influence you exert on yourself to achieve your goals and or objectives must always take precedence. That is because those you want to influence to achieve a common goal or objective will be quick to pick up on whether you believe in what you are attempting to make happen or not.

Therefore, when it comes to influencing the actions of others, either be 100% all in or do not attempt to do so until you are 100%. There is no "fake it till you make it" when it comes to influencing as leader. You know what that means? Yeah, you have to put in the work.
